gifts between Chavez & Ahmadinejad

We are only interested here about cross cultural communication, and the understanding of each other’s position.

Currently, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, The President of the “Islamic Republic of Iran” is visiting Hugo Chavez, the president of the “Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela”. Two completely different worlds, “civilisations”. Maybe, the best clue of this would be the nature of exchanged gifts between the two presidents.

Ahmadinejad offered the full book collection from the Ayatollah Khomeini (who lead the Islamic Iranian revolution, and liberated the country from the Shah’s rule). Ayatollah is the title of a high-ranking Shiite religious authority. These books are by definition about Islam.

Chavez offered the full book collection about El Libertador Simon Bolivar (who lead the latin American revolution, and liberated the continent from Spanish rule). These books were more about a personal vision of “Aufklarung” rather than religious matters.
