What the world wants …

Hereunder are findings from Google trends which gives information about what the world, countries are looking for in the Google search engine. You can try Yahoo buzz as well ; but the displayed information will be quite limited… and furthermore I am boycotting Yahoo now (but that’s another story).
We will try to find, from this Google tool, clues of cultural differences and global standardization. Because there are many languages in the world, research were limited to family names (international famous people) or very international words. Bear in mind lots of languages are in different alphabets and might therefore be wrongly represented (think about the Asian, Arab and Russian countries). I had to be careful as well to avoid double meanings in other languages.
Basically, this ranking is based on a ratio between the number of search for a particular term and the total Google search by location (and languages as well). Only the highest ratio’s are featured. Figures compiled for the years 2004, 2005 & 2006.

If you have made other funny discoveries, please put them in comment.
