A future designed world - dreams, vision…

Jacque Fresco’s vision (at least the featured summary of it) in this video below is quite a nice one - even if a bit cheezy, it does come up with a very general idea already shared by many of us (human beings). “Technology progress is nothing if we haven’t managed to take off wars, police, prison out of our world… we are only at a very early stage of civilization”.

I made some research on Jacque Fresco & William Gazecki, trying to see if they belonged to any cults, or sects, if they had any proselytism target, before posting this video. Well, at first sight, it looks like not (but if I’m wrong, please tell me)… I am always very cautious about these “think tanks” imagining a better society.

found on the Linknote blog.

Fresco’s originality is to translate it in terms of design. (btw, the style of his architecture made me clearly think of Oscar Niemeyer, the one who built Brasilia).

On the other hand, violence and war are paradoxically part of our humanity ; either with a gun, a pittbull, a knife, a car or our bare hands. I don’t really know if completely eradicating frustration and envy, some of the causes of many violent conflicts, would be so positive… just think about it, we would be just limiting our acts as a nice, conditionned, dummy person without pressure.

Some people say sadness is needed to appreciate the concept of joy at its fullest. It is always after committed horrors, that usually the best of us comes out through solidarity and empathy towards victims. Staying neutral, clinical or just tuned on one direction would just erase this part of our humankind. I am open though to learn about other alternatives.

If you are curious to know more this “inventor”, have a look to his Venus Project, where he is eager to “reevaluate our values” (especially through a different economy). Well why not ?
