“Nation State” game - a roleplay about international politics.

What’s great in Virtual Worlds is that consequences are limited to virtual contexts.
Many talk about the trendy “second life” (my computer is just too slow, and anyway I want to profit from real life), a nice graphically game apparently boring (from what blogs I read tells)… and more a money-making / marketing buzz.

If you ever thought about managing your own country, if you ever believed you would be a better minister than the currently ones in your real world - maybe Nation State game is for you (nothing to download, it’s free & easy to join and play). It’s not a very new one, but with 90 000 created accounts, it has already gone through a few bugs and troubleshoots.

Daily, you get issues (like “should be voting compulsory ?”) you have to deal with. Taken actions develop the country accordingly… you can access various discussions about these topics on a (very well) documented forum - interesting to see each other’s point of view.

So if you are interested, I have just created a “nation”, “The Nomadic Peoples of Loca Lingo“, which is considered as an “innofensive democratic centre” regime (which is very fine for me, cose balance is key) with a strong economy, good human rights and excellent freedom of speech. You can create “countries”, “occupied territories”, “rogue countries”, “Holly Empires”,… well the choice is huge… and yours… Huge creativity in pretty funny names (The People’s Republic of Fckoff, the Republic of Chicksdigmygoats, The Free Land of Hippy Punk Rockers, The Revolutionary Force of Nak nak, The Hateful Hating Hated Haters of Hatred, for a few)… some other people are playing it pretty seriously… Well, check it out by yourself.

I am still discovering this game - hopefully, I won’t put there too much of my time.

Some explanations maybe about the flag on my profile : “colors” for diversity and difference, “white” for emptinness and freedom, “black” line for structure (tiny black line btw).

Damned, after a few days, The Nomadic Peoples of Loca Lingo are now “Democratic Socialists”, with Average Civil Rights, a Reasonable Economy and Good Political Freedoms…

Ok, this game seems to be shaped under a USamerican way of managing a country :

“The Nomadic Peoples of Loca Lingo is a small, pleasant nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate population of 14 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Social Equality, Commerce, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 24%, but much higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Gambling industries.

Bicyclists are banned from major roads, it is illegal to make racist remarks in public, TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, and political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations. Crime is relatively low. Loca Lingo’s national animal is the rhino and its currency is the llo.

Loca Lingo is ranked 2725th in the region and 50,581st in the world for Most Liberal Nations. ”

There are pretty interesting issues going on though…
