Another great Chinese Love song (the romance side of china),… a classic from Teresa Teng who died 10 years ago. You’d better learn this one by heart - after having listened at it, it will buzz several days long in your head… no matter what.
Chose first your version on either Youtube, Metacafé, and then follow the lyrics. The translation is like for the previous one (yuèliang dàibiǎo wǒ de xīn - 月 亮 代 表 我 的 心) more an interpretation (and not a transliteration (title). Enjoy…

So we started with a series of Russian songs, we should now carry on with Chinese ones.
If you plan to start making business in China, there are 2 things you’ll absolutely need to master :
- being able to drink lots of whisky (alcohol in general), and still talk about serious business at the end of the night
- sing, or master a few local karaoke songs.

Hereunder is a (cheezy) classic, known by just a few hundred millions of Chinese… like for the Russian series, chose the version you would enjoy first, and then good luck… Youtube, metacafe and that’s it (Frenchy platforms do not seem interested in Chinese music…).

Unlike Russian, Mandarin Chinese doesn’t have any alphabet (it is a bit more complex, more pictograms/ ideograms…) - it will be pretty user unfriendly to list more than 300000…different words.
Instead, we will put a transliteration in pinyin. If you find the characters hereunder too small, just increase the size of the text with your favorite browser..

Have a look at them (videos, pictures) - they clearly made me understanding why their reputation went worldwide. A mix of innocence, culture and fun, forcing a respectful admiration and desire, a very difficult combination lots of women might try to reach… a magnet making men discovering some of their most beautiful sides, making them feeling “masculine” and maybe “gentlemen”, the time of an evening, or (maybe) a night. A magnificent illusion, where this feeling of perfection couldn’t last more than a few hours.

An historical bridge between East and West, West and East, a constant exchange throughout History. “A concept that illustrates the way that commodities, empires, religions, and even music, have traveled throughout Eurasia for thousands of years”.

This time map (pop-ups to be allowed) shows how many ways / routes existed when going from one side to the other ; an evolution from the Roman Empire, Alexander the Great, Marco Polo, Sir Aurel Stein (?), Ruy Gonzales de Clavijo, Anthony Jenkinson, Benedict Goës,… Only European explorers were mentioned - what about Asians ? There must have certainly been some (Genghis Khan ?).. Arabs used as well to extensively travel the world. (A pity the only information taught in (Belgian) school is mainly about “national progress for humanity”, forgetting the foreign ones. When history is about politics…)

From a cultural point of view, the same organization (ECAI Berkeley) made up a similar map concerning music instruments… very interesting

When you give a closer look to the map, you can notice the importance of Persia (currently Iran) in this global transportation network : a compulsory gate controlling two seas,… I can just imagine the cultural heritage 2500 years+ of caravans must have left to this country.
